Two Segments of AIE Course
- Didactic Portion: Gain theoretical knowledge and foundational skills.
- Clinical Portion: Engage in hands-on, live-patient, mentored clinical sessions.
- Eligibility: Must be a licensed dentist in the United States and require professional liability insurance for clinical participation.
- Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Choose From Two Session Dates
- High-Volume Practice: Perform 5-15 implants during the surgical sessions, split into morning and afternoon sessions (only morning on Friday).
- Collaborative Learning: Assist and learn alongside peers, gaining insights through observation and participation.
- Daily Review: Each day, we analyze the previous day’s surgeries and prepare for the next, fostering an engaging, seminar-style discussion where clinicians share successes and learn from each other’s experience.
COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION – Sessions Are Held Tuesday Through Friday.
While many courses for learning implant dentistry are available, hardly any hands-on LIVE Patient dental implant course is so comprehensive in scope. Alabama Implant Education is committed to providing quality education with University-based lecturers. Our goal is to effectively train dentists in the appropriate use of dental implants, so that patients may be well served with this state-of-the-art technology.
TOPICS INCLUDE:
- Basics – treatment planning, medical evaluation, cone beam CT analysis
- Socket Grafting – basic site development, socket grafting, biology of wound healing, osseointegration
- Mandibles – treating the edentulous mandible, overdenture protocols, managing post-operative pain
- Complications – complications and medical emergencies, advanced wound closure
- Maxillae – treating the edentulous maxillae, implant placement and restorations, bone density, effective treatment plans
- Ridge Width – grafting materials, techniques for site development, block graft overview, titanium mesh and membranes
- Sinus Grafting – sinus anatomy and biology, augmentation techniques, intra-osseous sinus lift procedures
- CBCT Surgery – Using CBCT for guided implant placement, flapless surgical protocols, milled abutments – Hands-On Implant placement/Hands-on Suturing techniques/Biomechanics.

Meet Our Doctors
Michael McCracken, DDS, PhD
Dr. McCracken currently serves as a Professor at The University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He received his dental degree from The University of North Carolina and completed a prosthodontic residency at The University of Alabama Birmingham. Also, he earned a Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering for research related to growth factors and healing of implants in compromised hosts. His past roles with the University include serving as Director of Pre- Doctoral Implant Education, Director of Graduate Prosthodontics and Director of the UAB Implant Training Program. Dr. McCracken lectures Nationally and Internationally on topics relating to implant dentistry and the restoration of complex dental patients. He is known for his ability to explain difficult concepts in a practical way, and for a realistic approach toward continuing education. He lectures in an entertaining and relaxed manner, and makes the topics useful and real.
Guy Rosenstiel, DMD, MAGD
Dr. Guy Rosenstiel is a graduate of the UAB School of Dentistry, and completed a residency in general dentistry at the Birmingham Veterans Administration Hospital. Dr. Rosenstiel has a passion for continuing education. He has completed coursework in dental anesthesiology, dental implants, endodontics, and CAD/CAM restorations. He earned a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2007. Dr. Rosenstiel has built a successful private practice with a strong emphasis on dental implants. He brings a wealth of practical experience with him to this course, including insight on how to implement dental implants into a private practice setting, and how to manage the business aspects of implant dentistry. He has served as President of the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry, and teaches part-time at the UAB School of Dentistry. Dr. Rosenstiel is active as a faculty member in the LMC sponsored AEGD program at the Foundry Dental Center, where he also teaches IV sedation.
Jonathan Paul Ouellette, DMD, AEGD
Dr. Jonathan Ouellette, a Brevard County, Florida native, received his undergraduate degree and dental training at the University of Javeriana. He then returned to the United States and attended a two-year AEGD at the University of Florida. He then completed an additional GPR with the focus in implant dentistry at the Lutheran Medical Center “The Foundry” in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Ouellette returned to Florida and opened his dental practice in Orlando with a focus on implants and implant restorations. He is also a loving husband to his wonderful wife Kimberly and now a father to their three amazing children, Jack, Wyatt and Charlotte. When he is not at the office or spending time with his family, you can find him at the golf course trying to perfect his game. Dentistry has truly been his lifelong passion and he hopes he can not only continue to help his patients but also help the next generation of doctors to find the love and passion they need to practice dentistry.

LICENSURE: All delegates must be licensed to practice dentistry in the United States. Proof of licensure is required.
INSURANCE:

2. Delegates should maintain $1,000,000 in coverage with $3,000,000 aggregate.
PATIENT SURGICAL EXPERIENCES:
Yes, we operate at every session, with a demo surgery during the first session, and up to 20 delegate surgeries at other sessions. We recruit and provide patients for these sessions, or delegates may bring their own patients. We cannot guarantee this service for every person in every session because many factors are out of our control. However, we have back-up patients and make a tremendous effort to provide delegates at surgery each time. We have been very successful at this to date. We provide the patients. We mentor your surgical experience. You learn and excel.
I’ve already taken an implant course through a different program, can I take CIRP? - No, even though you've taken other implant training, still will have to take the required AIE prerequisite course.
After the course, will I have continued guidance? - Yes, once the course is complete, we do offer continued support.
What is the student/teacher ratio? - Its 2:1.
What are the payment plans? - Yes, we do offer monthly payment plans.
What implant system do you teach? - We primarily use BioHorizons in our teaching; however, our focus is on technique rather than a single system. The skills you learn apply to whichever system you currently use or choose to adopt.
Is the course given virtually? - Yes the the lecture portion of the course is offered virtually, allowing less days out of clinic.
Am I able to bring an assistant with me, or will they be provided? - We do have assistants and faculty staff that will be able to assist. You're not required to bring an assistant, but you can bring one assistant at no cost.
