    Comprehensive Implant Residency Program

    A clinical course focused on bone grafting and site development. Reserved for clinicians who have experience placing implants. This program includes didactic and live surgical training on higher level implant and grafting procedures. This is a 7 session program for those wanting to gain an elite level of surgical training.

    This course will be taught using distance learning, group sessions, invited speakers, and intensive educational experiences including hands-on live surgery with patient provided.

    CIRP Surgical Schedule: 7 Sessions

    1 - Ridge Grafting

    Socket grafting; lateral ridge grafting; biology of wound healing; grafting materials; membranes

    2 - Ridge Splice

    Grafting materials; techniques for site development; block graft overview; ridge splitting techniques

    3 - Soft Tissue

    Use of connective tissue grafts to enhance implant esthetics; PRF in healing; esthetic repairs

    4 - Sinus Grafting

    Sinus anatomy and biology; augmentation techniques; intra-osseous sinus lift procedures

    5 - Complications

    Complications and medical emergencies; advanced wound closure; anesthesia

    6 - Maxillac

    Treating the edentulous maxilla; implant placement and restorations; bone density; effective treatment plans

    7 - Guided Surgery

    This session includes a hands-on lecture and will cover topics in guided surgery, including single-tooth implants, bone and tissue-level guides, full arch cases, in-office milling of guides, technology and guided “All-on-Four” type restorations. CIRP delegates also have the opportunity to do guided surgery clinically.

    This year-long course covers advanced implant topics, and is designed for clinicians with a significant focus on implant dentistry. As the course progresses, residents will learn critical skills for implant success. These include ridge width grafting, sinus elevation, and immediate implant placement in esthetic areas. The combination of didactic education, clinical application, and case review work together to form excellence in education.

        Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and is secured only when payment is received in the office. Clinicians may cancel/drop the course at any time. However, all payments received are non-refundable.

        Administrative Details


        All delegates must be licensed to practice dentistry in in the United States. Proof of licensure is required.

        Patient Surgical Experiences

        Yes, we operate at every session, with a demo surgery the first session, and up to 20 delegate surgeries at other sessions.

        We recruit and provide patients for these sessions, or delegates may bring their own patients. We cannot guarantee this service for every person in every session because many factors are out of our control. However, we have back-up patients and make tremendous effort to provide delegates a surgery each time. We have been very successful at this to date. We provide the patients. We mentor your surgical experience. You learn and excel.

        Course and Registration Information

        Jonathan Paul Ouellette, DMD, AEGD

        Dr. Ouellette graduated from the AEGD implant residency course in 2014 where he worked closely with Dr. Michael McCracken at the Foundry Dental Center in Bessemer, AL. He is a dedicated, motivated, and highly respected dentist currently practicing in the Orlando, FL area where he has his own private practices with his father. He utilizes his patient care and surgical skills through his advanced training in surgical implant dentistry and IV conscious sedation training daily. He currently lectures for Sirona and for AIE along with Dr. McCracken.

        Michael McCracken, DDS, PHD

        Dr. McCracken currently serves as a Professor at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He received his dental degree from the University of North Carolina, and completed a prosthodontic residency at UAB. Also, he earned a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering for research related to growth factors and healing of implants in compromised hosts. His past roles within the University include serving as Director of Pre-Doctoral Implant Education, Director of Graduate Prosthodontics, and Director of the UAB Implant Training Program. Dr. McCracken lectures nationally and internationally on topics relating to implant dentistry and the restoration of complex dental patients. He is known for his ability to explain difficult concepts in a practical way, and for a realistic approach toward continuing education. He lectures in an entertaining and relaxed manner, and makes the topics useful and real.

        Guy Rosenstiel, DMD, MAGD

        Dr. Guy Rosenstiel is a graduate of the UAB School of Dentistry, and completed a residency in general dentistry at the Birmingham Veterans Administration Hospital. He earned a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2007 and has gone on to build a successful private practice with a strong emphasis on dental implants. His clinical mentoring is among the best in the field, and he has helped dozens of dentists in the Birmingham community refine their skills in implant surgery and oral medicine. He has particular strengths in oral medicine, medical evaluation of patients, and site development skills including ridge splitting techniques.

        Dr. Rosenstiel has a passion for continuing education, completing coursework in dental anesthesiology, dental implants, endodontics, and CAD/CAM restorations. He has served as President of the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry, and teaches part-time at the UAB School of Dentistry. He brings a wealth of practical experience with him to the courses he teaches, including insight on how to implement dental implants into a private practice setting, and how to manage the business aspects of implant dentistry.
